Today’s economy got you in a pinch? Dig the old high speed handpiece out of the drawer and have it converted to autochuck. Most practices have tons of equipment hidden away which could be refurbished with little cost. One of the best handpieces ever made is the Midwest Quiet Air. If you have old ones stored away, they are easily converted to pushbutton or lever type autochuck handpieces. You can buy new endcaps with turbines, or have your handpiece repair shop handle it for you. The latter is typically the best choice, as repair shops can clean up the old fiber optics (or replace if necessary) and ensure air and water lines are clear for optimum turbine performance and bur cooling.
Convert Your Old Kavo High Speed Handpiece To Pushbutton Autochuck
Kavo Contact Air and Supertorque handpieces can be converted as well, with just turbine and endcap replacement. Virtually any high speed handpiece which requires a bur tool may be converted to autochuck. Given the cost of new handpieces, this is an excellent way to free up some money for other areas of your practice.
And don’t forget: Tell your repair company you would like to retain the old turbine and endcap just in case you decide to go back to using the bur tool. You may just decide that your old high speed handpiece was pretty functional after all.
